Wire Ring

A Simple Wire Ring For Any Occasion

7.5cm of 0.1cm diameter round silver wire
Wire cutters
Round-nosed pliers
Chain-nosed pliers
Jeweler’s file
Ring mandrel
Raw hide hammer

1. First you’ll need to use a jeweler's file to smooth off both ends of the wire. Then use round-nosed pliers to curl the one end and the chain-nosed pliers to continue the curl around about one more time.

2. Hold the curl against the mandrel at the line at which you would like your ring's size to be. Use your other hand to wrap the wire around the mandrel. Then flatten it against the mandrel using a raw hide hammer.

3.Pull the ring off the mandrel and use the round-nosed pliers to curl the other end of the wire. I just curled it once but you can curl a second time if you wish.

4.After curling the other end, put the ring back on the mandrel and use the hammer again to flatten the ring and shape it around the mandrel.

This is a really simple project that could be used with other metals. You could also use twisted wire to give a nice effect. Or before you start the project you could flatten the wire for a different effect all together!
